We have had lackluster snow this year- I'd be surprised if we have gotten more than three inches at a time, and what we do get is usually gross and slushy. One morning we woke up and were happy to see some real, playable snow! Even though it was a snow day I bundled the kids in snow gear over their pajamas and we went out for a bit before the bus came. Great way to burn off some energy before school!

Make your own sundaes
What better way to spend a winter weekend, than by making our own sundaes?! Nolan was particularly pleased with decorating mine with a happy face. :)

Playground
We were lucky enough to get out and enjoy some fresh air - something other than ice skating! Nina and Ryder were more than happy to get out and run in the woods for a while, digging, hitting trees....

Pond Hockey
It seems like all we do is skate lately!!! We were lucky enough to get in some pond hockey in the backyard this week before the warmer temps temporarily melted the pond. Nina had none of it and sulked in a chair while Nolan skated with Jackson & Ryder. At least some of the kids had fun...

Skating AND hockey!
Nolan & Nina started formal lessons this weekend- while Nina scooted around in her Tot class, Nolan was thrilled to start pre-hockey. I'm not sure who was happier about it - Nolan, since he could fall on the ice with all his pads without fear of getting hurt, or Chris, who is definitely reliving his youth hockey days.Theer are only two other kids in Nolan's program so he gets a lot of individual attention. And Chris and I get to sit back and relax for 40 minutes. Can't beat it!

Skating!
Last year, the temps were so warm we barely made it to the town rink for skating. Luckily this year has been cold enough to freeze the ice. Nina took to the ice very easily and scooted around with her crate. As you can see, the crates later made for some good seating.
Even better than skating is snacking with Laney and Abby!
